Forgiven to know Him

I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally.
– Philippians 3:10 (The Message)

The life of a believer starts where most people think it ends. God once showed me an image in regards with this. Imagine this dance floor with a very uneven surface. How will you dance if there is just rocks and holes everywhere? Even if you try your absolute best, you’ll really struggle to dance and you’ll probably end up with a sprained ankle. In our lives, the dance floor is the foundation of our Christian walk with Jesus and this foundation is that Jesus has freely forgiven us of all our sins and trespasses. We don’t deserve it and we do not always feel that it is true, but it is true. You are holy in the sight of God. When He looks at you He sees you through the blood Christ – perfect and spotless. So, this is our basis and the starting point for us as believers. But there is more to our lives than just knowing that we have a perfectly smooth dance floor.

The goal of our lives is to know Jesus. Paul says in Philippians 3 verse 10 that his determined purpose is to know Jesus intimately and to get more acquainted with the person of Jesus. The picture I have in my mind of our lives is one where we are caught up in this dance with Jesus and this is where the dance floor comes in. For us to really enjoy our dance with Jesus we need to have a perfect dance floor. In order to truly experience the deepest intimacies in your relationship with Jesus you need to know and believe that you are forgiven. Jesus has forgiven you of all your sin so that you can know Him intimately. Being established in our stand before God and how He sees us abolishes the wall of separation in our own minds. This further leads to us having boldness to approach God no matter what happens in our lives. Can you see that it is vital for us as believers to be established in the truth that Jesus has forgiven us completely? We cannot really have a relationship with Jesus without knowing this truth.

Stop making it your goal to be better and to try to do everything perfect. Get established in the truth of your righteous stance before God and make it your only aim and focus to know Jesus. Put all your attention on Him.

Psalm 27:4 One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.

One of the most important messages a Christian can hear is the message of the forgiveness of sins that came through the blood of Jesus Christ. This and this alone makes a real relationship with Jesus Christ possible.
