Look to Jesus

You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them.  And these [very Scriptures] testify about Me! And still you are not willing to come to Me, so that you might have life.”  (John 5:39-40)

Jesus addressed the Pharisees, saying that the scriptures they investigated were speaking about Him. They did not realise this, even though they knew the scriptures. Christ further said to them that if they would come to Him, they will experience life.

Today many people do not experience life while reading the Bible, and instead feel condemned and experience death. There is so much life in the Bible, but some simply read it from the wrong perspective. For years people studied the Bible but didn’t experience life.

In order to experience life in the Bible, one must read to see Christ. As we see Christ, He speaks to us through the Bible, and it becomes alive. Only then does the Word become the Word of God to you. From this perspective you will also find that the Holy Spirit will reveal Christ to you. You will start to discover that you are in Him, and explore your identity in Him.

We are a new creation in Christ, yet people look to their old sinful selves when they read the Bible and only notice their failures and mistakes. The Holy Spirit was not given to reveal our failures and mistakes; It is your helper and came to reveal Christ.

Looking away (from all that will distract) to Jesus, who is the leader and the source of our faith (giving the first incentive for our belief) and is also its finisher (bringing it to maturity and perfection).” (Heb 12:2 AMP)
