No fear

DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me. – John 14:1

There are so many voices in our lives that speak to us out of the everyday realities in our lives. All these realities stir up things in our hearts and many times fear gets a hold of us. We hear a bad report, and our default response is, “Oh no, I hope this will not happen to me,” or “Oh no! What am I going to do now?” Many people feel alone, without hope and unsure of how things will turn out. Some have fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of lack, fear of this, fear of that, but Jesus wants to set us free from all our doubts and fears. He wants us to live a victorious life in Him, knowing that he has our back, that He is with us and that we have no reason to be afraid. The plan He has for us is that we live a life free from all fear with faith in Him.

In Mark 5 we read about a ruler from the synagogue by the name of Jairus that came to Jesus and begged him to go to his house and lay hands on his daughter who was busy dying. So, Jesus went with Jairus to pray for her. On the way to Jairus’ house people ran up to them to report that his daughter had already died and that they should not bother Jesus anymore. Jesus overheard what they said but ignored them. Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.” Jesus went to the house and raised the girl from the dead. Here we have to do with a message that came to Jesus and Jairus. The message was stating what had happened in the natural. Was it a false message? No, not really. She really died. Jesus heard the bad report, but he IGNORED it. When Jesus got to the house, he told those that were there that they shouldn’t cry or be fearful because the girl was only sleeping. Jesus was convinced of another reality and he proved it by raising the girl from the dead.

If you are faced with the worst realities possible and voices come to you bringing bad reports, remember there is also another Voice that speaks, and that voice brings faith. This Voice tells us a different story. God is Immanuel – He is with us – and He is speaking to us loud and clear today. We should just open our hearts for His voice. The same words that Jesus spoke to Jairus saying, “do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing,” are the same words Jesus is speaking to you today.

Do not condemn yourself for having all kinds of fears and doubts. Jesus is not the one condemning us because of the fears and anxieties we carry in our hearts. He is familiar with all our weaknesses and has compassion towards us (Heb. 4:15). The moment we become aware of God and that He is with us, we hear Him, and the other voices starts fading away. Just like Jesus was only aware of what His Father said and did, we can also live the same HIGHER LIFE IN HIM. We can choose to believe the Truth and live a life free from fear.

When we keep on living with the knowledge that Christ is in us and that we are in Christ and continue to grow in a revelation and awareness of this reality, we will get to a place where it will become difficult to be fearful.
