For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. – Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP)
God has a plan for your life. God has a destiny for you. Before you came to Christ you were just surviving, busy going nowhere, but when you came to faith in Christ you stepped into the destiny that He has for you. I want to tell you that you have not seen anything yet. The best is yet to come. The life God has for you is a life full of His glory and His goodness.
God’s purpose and plan for every believer is more or less the same, but it is also completely unique. Romans 8 verse 29 says that He destined from the beginning that we should be moulded into the image of His son. Paul also says in Galatians 4 verse 19 that He was labouring for the very purpose: “until Christ is completely and permanently formed (moulded) within you.” This means that God wants Christ to be formed in you so that you will be like Him in word, thought and deed, but the detail of the plan does not look the same for everyone. We are all unique and we will all reveal Christ to the world in a very distinctive way.
This purpose and destiny that is fixed in God will not change, but it will also not just unfold automatically. Ephesians 2 verse 10 says, “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].” Fulfilling your destiny involves something from your side. You purposefully need to take the path that He laid out for you by following the promptings of His Spirit. All of us need to purposefully choose to walk with God. Making it our aim and focus to know Him more and to open our hearts for Him on purpose. All the other details will become clear to you as you make knowing Jesus the ultimate purpose of your life. Do not get caught up in the details such as “what job do I need to do?” or, “should I move to this place? Maybe I should change this or that?” Knowing and revealing Christ wherever you are and in whatever you do is most important. Take small steps in the direction that you feel He is leading you, but do not let the details become a distraction from what it is all about – knowing Him personally and intimately!
If you feel today that you have just been existing, do not feel discouraged, it is never too late. God is able to do for you in a moment what you cannot even think to achieve in a lifetime. He can restore everything. This is a new moment for you to start living the life that He has for you. Make it your purpose to know Jesus. Pursue a relationship with the One that gave His life for you. Go and read Philippians 3 from verse 8 to 15 in the Amplified Bible.
“I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
